Aarhus is Denmark's second largest city with 268,000 inhabitants. The history of Aarhus goes back more than a thousand years and it is one of the true Viking towns. It has an outstanding location - encircled by woods and bordered by beaches the city lies in a shielded spot inviting you to enjoy its several attractions. Best known and treasured is probably the open-air museum "The Old Town" with more than 75 half timbered houses from every part of Denmark. A few miles south from the Centre lies another three-star attraction, the Museum of Prehistory at Moesgaard. Aarhus is an educational and cultural centre and the very soul of the city is the charming blend of a provincial town and a big city, which makes you feel at home and welcome.
